Got postdoc at Harvard- wooo!
01-04-2010
I've landed a 18 month to 2 year contract (a bit uncertain) at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics with Mike Garcia, looking at X-ray transients (likely black hole novae) in the Andromeda Galaxy, along with a few side projects to be decided
NGC300 X-1 is Wolf-Rayet/ Black hole binary
06-01-2010
Hot on the heels of my NGC253 paper, our paper showing that NGC300 X-1 is a Wolf-Rayet/Black Hole binary has beeb accepted. The mass of the black hole is 16-24 times more massive than our Sun, for inclinations of 60-75 degrees, making it the second heaviest stellar black hole known. The heaviest is IC10 X-1, which is also a known Wolf-Rayet/Black hole binary
ULX timing/ extended corona paper accepted
06-01-2010
This is the first update for quite a while! Anyhow, my nicely contraversial paper on the ultra-luminous X-ray sources in NGC 253 is now accpeted, no thanks to referee number 1! You can find it on the publications page
New black hole paper accepted
20-05-2009
"A second black hole candidate in a M31 globular cluster is identified with XMM-Newton" has been accepted for publication in MNRAS letters
